It's a good time to pray for terrorist victims!

Since the Board of Education will no longer be providing video-taping for cablecast (effective July, 2002), suspended delivery of the "Molalla River Reporter" and stopped communication with the "Educational Ambassadors" (September, 2002) I have tried to provide information regarding education concerns for interested persons:

Chair Janette Palmer called the meeting of the Molalla River School District Board of Education to order at 6:10 p.m. and welcomed the participants who have volunteered their time to serve on the Superintendent Search Screening Committee.
Bob Bums, OSBA Executive Search Consultant, announced that there were 21 applicants for the
superintendent position. Of the 21, 15 are from Oregon, six from out of state. Of those 21 applicants, 11 are current superintendents, one assistant superintendent, three ex-superintendents, five directors and one assistant professor.
Mr. Bums stated that it would take each committee member about 10-15 hours to do the work in reviewing and scoring the applicants. They were asked to pick their top 10 candidates by the end of the process.
The timeline for reviewing the files was extended through February 21, 2003.
Mr. Bums emphasized the importance of confidentiality and reviewed the responsibilities of the
committee. Under ORS 192.660(3) the media is allowed to attend the executive sessions where the candidates are discussed but they cannot report on the discussion or the candidates. They are not to be told the names of the candidates. It was agreed that all candidates should be addressed by their file number rather than their name.                                  .
The next meeting of the committee will be February 25 at 6:00 p.m. At that time the committee
will present their recommendations to the Board. At that time, the job of the screening committee is over. The Board will conduct the remainder of the process, including the interviews.
At 6:56 p.m. the meeting adjourned to executive session under ORS 192.660(l)(a) - Personnel, to begin review of the application files.
