It's a good time to pray for terrorist victims!

Since the Board of Education will no longer be providing video-taping for cablecast (effective July, 2002), suspended delivery of the "Molalla River Reporter" and stopped communication with the "Educational Ambassadors" (September, 2002) I have tried to provide information regarding education concerns for interested persons:

SPECIAL BOARD MEETING
June 18, 2002

Board members present:   Mary Beyer, Steve Kraxberger, Janette Palmer, Karyn Gibbons, Deneen Munson

Staff present:                    Alice Ericksen/Superintendent; Pam Monte/Administrative Assistant

Chair Kraxberger called the Executive Session of the Molalla River School District Board of Education to order at 5:32 p.m. and established that a quorum was present.

Amend Appropriations for Fiscal Year 2001-2002
M21-138       A motion was made by Mrs. Palmer, seconded by Mrs. Mrs. Beyer to approve revised
   
                   Resolution R21-001 amending appropriations for the fiscal year 2001-02. Passed
                      unanimously 5-0

Hiring of Business Manager
M21-139       A motion was made by Mrs. Gibbons, seconded by Mrs. Beyer to approve the hiring of
                      David Peterson as the Business Manager. Passed unanimously. 5-0

Adopt 2002-2003 Budget
M21-140        A motion was made by Mrs. Gibbons, seconded by Mrs. Munson to reinstate
                       the Director of Instruction to full time and adopt the budget as approved by the budget
                       committee for the fiscal year 2002-03 in the sum of $24,838,858, levying taxes and
                       making appropriations as stated in Resolution R22-001. Motion passed 4-1 (Kraxberger
                       opposing)

Mrs. Gibbons apologized for the action taken at the June 13 meeting. She stated that it is the place of the board to look at dollars and not positions. It is the decision of the superintendent to cut positions if necessary. Mrs. Munson also offered her apologies to the staff.

There being no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 5:40 p.m.
