It's a good time to pray for terrorist victims!

Since the Board of Education will no longer be providing video-taping for cablecast (effective July, 2002), suspended delivery of the "Molalla River Reporter" and stopped communication with the "Educational Ambassadors" (September, 2002) I have tried to provide information regarding education concerns for interested persons:

Memorandum


A. BOUNDARY CHANGE REQUEST
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Pool are requesting a boundary change from the Molalla River School District into the Canby School District. They have submitted documentation, which you will find included in your backup materials. Their property lines are contiguous with the Canby School District. The Canby School Board has approved this request.
RECOMMENDATION:      That the Board of Education .....
B, SURPLUS PROPERTY
A tree was cut down at Maple Grove and the wood belongs to the Molalla River School District.  Maple Grove would like permission from the Board to sell the wood as a fundraiser.
RECOMMENDATION:       That the Board of Education declare the wood at Maple Grove Elementary School as surplus property and allow Maple Grove Elementary to sell the wood as a fundraising activity.
C. RFP FOR FOOD SERVICES
The District is in the fifth year of the five year contract with Sodexho America, LLC. The contract will expire the end of the current school year and law requires that the District go our for a RFP for food services. This motion will allow the fiscal department to proceed with the process.
RECOMMENDATION:       That the Board of Education authorizes the district to proceed with a Request/or Proposal for food services.
D. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
On October 22 the Board received a proposal from the Molalla High School Graduation Task Force Committee for changing the graduation requirements beginning with the class of 2007. They ask now that the Board approve these changes
The task force is recommending that the total number of credits required for graduation remain at 28 for a standard diploma. The proposed changes in course requirements are designed to better align with Certificate of Advanced Mastery requirements of the State and to offer both a more rigorous and relevant education for all students.
RECOMMENDATION:     That The Board of Education approve the proposal made to
change the graduation requirements beginning with the class of 2007.

E. BOARD WORKING AGREEMENTS
Mr. Needham has presented a resolution pertaining to the Board's Working Agreements. He has asked the Board to review and approve his resolution.
RECOMMENDATION:                That the Board of Education
 
F. SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH COMMITTEE
According to keeping to the time line established by the Board of Education it is necessary that the Board of Education appoint members to the Superintendent Search Committee at this time.
RECOMMENDATION:     That the Board of Education appoint the following as members of the Superintendent Search Committee,
G. SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH BROCHURE
After soliciting feedback at numerous public and staff meetings, the Board has reviewed the Superintendent Search Brochure with Dr. Burns.
RECOMMENDATION:     That the Board of Education approve the Superintendent Search Brochure as presented.
